Content Manged Websites

Data Wave builds custom “content managed” websites utilizing “open source software.”  A content managed system (CMS) allows you to take control of your website. A CMS can be used to easily manage every aspect of your website, from adding content and images to updating a product catalog or taking online reservations. You need not have any prior experience with complicated HTML code. If you can operate a word processor, you can maintain your own website.

Our CMS software of choice is an open source software known as Joomla. Open source software allows anyone to inspect and improve the software code. This has produced highly reliable, secure, high-performance platforms on which to build web applications. This software is used for everything from simple websites to complex web applications.

Choosing an open source platform for your application lowers your overall technology risk, and reduces the cost of development and long-term maintenance. In general open source software complies with industry standards and doesn’t carry the risk of “vendor lock-in” and forced upgrades by software vendors.

A WCMS facilitates contentcreation, content control, editing, and many essential Web maintenance functions.
